Overview
What we built.
Following the success of its sister hotel in central Manchester we built the 191-bedroom Hotel Brooklyn Leicester on the site of the city’s famous music, sports and exhibition arena Granby Halls.
Versatile meeting and event facilities, a restaurant and bar, and a series of characterful public spaces include a five-floor central atrium arching over five floors and a bridge linking the hotel with Leicester Tigers’ Welford Road stadium.
After Granby Halls was demolished the site had been used as a car park. A major pre-construction challenge was establishing if there was a former basement under the site. Conducting an extensive survey gave us certainty that there was no subterranean level, allowing piling to proceed.
